Meet Our Moms
The magnificent women we’ve been privileged to bless, who have touched us and countless more along the way.
Analee has 4 kids and was first diagnosed in 2009 with stage 2 breast cancer. In 2013 she was having terrible back pain and an MRI confirmed cancer was back and in numerous bones. Analee needed a new bed. She was currently sleeping on an old queen size mattress and her husband was sleeping on the sofa. As her cancer worsened, she requested an adjustable base to make life easier and allow she and her husband to be back in the same bed. We were able to grant this wish for her in April 2017.
Carmen first had Lymphoma at 15, Stage 2 Breast Cancer 3 years ago and now she is stage 4 with METS in her femur, hip and spine which is very painful. She is married and has a 6 year old daughter and a mom who helps as much as she can. Her wish was to travel with her family to make more memories. Her wish was granted in Hawaii in April 2017.
Amy is a school teacher and a single mom of a 13 year old daughter. She was just recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. She starts chemo and radiation this week so her wish was to have some quality time with her daughter and a chance to rest and relax before her treatment begins. She chose to have a staycation in Dallas. Thank you so much to the The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas for making it a fabulous weekend for them. They enjoyed dinner at Fearing’s Restaurant one night. Then got to enjoy Nick & Sam’s Steakhouse and the chance to see Madam Butterfly at Winspear Opera House. They were also pampered at the spa! Her wish was granted in March 2017.
Destiny was first diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 25. It came back when she was 31 as metastatic breast cancer. She has a son that is 14 and she just got married this past year. “I won’t accept cancer telling me how much time I have left. I don’t want to know. I just want to make memories, AND LIVE AS MUCH AS I CAN WHILE I CAN! And because of that I got married at stage 4, however we didn’t want a honeymoon instead we want a familymoon.” They took a Disney cruise out of Florida in March 2017.
Janet is 38 years old with a husband and two boys. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. It has now spread to her bones and liver. Janet was a nurse before she had to quit work. Here is her wish, “I would love to take my boys 11 and 9 to Walt Disney World before I can’t walk it anymore. I want to have that memory for my boys of mom being with them and dad at Disney. I would also love for my boys to have this time to be kids and not worry about mommy being sick. They are always wanting to help take care of me and I want to do something fun and exciting for them!!” Janet’s wish came true in February 2017.
Liz is a 10 year breast cancer survivor but this past October she was diagnosed with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma. The prognosis is less than a year. She has twins that are six and a 7 year old daughter. Her wish is to make some wonderful memories on a family trip. They were able to take Disney cruise in January 2017.
